Why That Morning

I think about the times spent and the memories shared.
To ever think you’d be taken away, I would have never dared.
I took your presence for granted and now I would do anything to hear half a breath.
All this seems like it cannot be true.
Now at times I wish I had gone up with you too.
I ask why that morning you were taken from us.
It wasn’t your time and I can’t even begin to manage to move on, even though I must.
The emptiness in my heart will never be filled
Because time can’t erase all of the memories built.
I can’t believe I never got to say goodbye,
But I know I’ll never forget you, no matter how hard I try.
